Day # 1 in Brown County IndianaThe Hikes in Brown County State Park:Two self-directed park hikes are planned. Scenic Southern Loop Hike - This 3.5-mile scenic, moderate hike begins at the Brown County State Park Nature Center (where you register for this hike), then winds through the woods, along Strahl Creek and past Strahl Lake. Midway through the hike, local Boy Scout Troop 190 will host a campfire and refreshments at the Strahl Lake Shelter. This hike includes mostly paved roadway, some woodlands and several steep steps at the end of the hike leading back to the Nature Center. Rugged Woodland Hike - This 2.75-mile hike provides more challenge. It begins at the Recreation Building adjacent to the Rally Campgrounds (where you register for this hike), then winds through the woods and around Ogle Lake and returns. Midway through the hike, local boy Scout Troop 190 will host a campfire and refreshments at the Ogle Lake Shelter. This hike includes sets of steep wooden stairs, hills, and paths that lead back to the starting point.
Groups traveling via motorcoach are charged $1 per person entry fee, and each hiker will be charged an additional $1 hike fee. For groups of 25 hikers or more, one will be admitted to the hike free of charge.
Arrival: Parking is available along the park roads, in designated lots and in Rally Campground.
